Vancouver seems to be turning out a great number of highly creative artists as of late, as our recent releases have shown, and Mike Verde is another example of the great new music that is coming out of British Columbia. Hypocenter is an EP that has a little bit of everything - obvious jazz influences, intricate breaks and rhythm sections, really beautiful melodies, and an emotional underlay that is evident throughout all of the songs. Mike's music is based on the IDM formula, but it refuses to let itself be pigeonholed into a specific label or genre, it is simply wonderful music that successfully displays the artist's feelings, thoughts, and originality.

Reviewer:camomille - - January 28, 2005 Subject: i hate review titles Very entertaining ep ! Very refreshing to hear some of those oldskool beats remanufactured. Very good contrasts in emotion, keeps my mind active but it's so relaxing at the same time. Favorite is Clutch.
Reviewer:mystified - - January 25, 2005 Subject: Warmth These are cool and perfect sounds that create warmth. An ear for detail and the patience for many hours went into these pieces. Some phrases move more cyclically, while others seem to spin crazily or fractally-- yet all is nicely in sync. Overall a great album! Give it a listen.
