'scenarios for the real self' was originally released on breaking tension music some time in 2003. it was the ninth release for breaking tension music, limited edition with homemade packaging, made available at one of the first 'environments' events (live ambient series, vancouver, bc).
all of the material was created using an ATARI computer, AKAI S950 sampler, YAMAHA FX500 guitar effects unit and a YAMAHA MD8 multi-track recorder. 'frozen ocean' was edited slightly in ACID Pro.
the concept of 'evolution of a flower' is to be the audio representation of the creation of the flower of life from start to finish. the flower of life, known in sacred geometry as the blueprint for all life, consists of eight spheres, which match up with the notes in a C major scale. the shape grows from its first sphere (c note) in a particular progression mimicked in 'evolution of a flower' over an expansive period of time. characteristics, such as the energy of each note/sphere and the varied states of tension in each phase of growth, were considered in the creation of the piece. It's the intention to bring the listener closer to an intuitive understanding of the flower of life concept, simply by hearing it.
'natreal' and 'frozen ocean' were created in a similar tone, intended as sound to instigate opening and relaxation through meditative states, brought about by elements of 'trance'. 'scenarios for the real self' is a borrowed term (robert s ellwood) used to describe spiritual ideal states of being.
enjoy.
