LibriVox recording of Bram Stoker's The Lair of the White Worm read by Betsie Bush.
The Lair of the White Worm (also known as The Garden of Evil) is a horror novel by Anglo-Irish author Bram Stoker, who also wrote Dracula. It was published in 1911.
This book centers on Adam Salton who is contacted by his great uncle in England, for the purpose of establishing a relationship between these last two members of the family. Adam travels to Richard Salton's house in Mercia, and quickly finds himself in the center of some inexplicable occurrences. The new heir to the Caswall estate, Edgar Caswall appears to be making some sort of a mesmeric assault on a local girl. And, a local lady, Arabella March, seems to be running a game of her own, perhaps angling to become Mrs. Caswall. There is something strange about Lady March, something inexplicable and evil... Subject: A perfectly satisfactory recording
I am tired of Shadows_Girl's bitter and vitriolic "reviews" of Librivox recordings. Unless you are determined to dislike American accents, this is a perfectly satisfactory recording.
Certainly, there are some Librivox voices that are not to my taste and there are some recordings that are not of particularly good technical quality. But many are excellent in both respects, and provide huge enjoyment to thousands of people.
And please don't be put off by one person's odd compulsion to belittle the whole output of Librivox.

Well, you could waste your time. and numb your brain, listening to Betsie what's her name's stammering, hesitant, and completely amateurish reading of this novel---since you're clearly too lazy to read it for yourself or you wouldn't be looking for an audio book, now would you?
OR you could just watch the movie that stars Hugh Grant and Amanda Donahoe which was released in 1988 and is MUCH more fun than submitting your ears to the droning (and occasionally squeaky voiced) rendition by this typical librivox volunteer---all of whom seem to be dedicated to the cause of destroying people's enjoyment of literature.
