Subject: Theatre of the Absurd
Ionesco was part of the movement in France after World War II known as Theatre of the Absurd. His play Rhinoceros is drawn from to create an animated story with a life of its own. There is more similarity to the movement than to the Ionesco play.
Although this animated short bogs down three-fourths through, give it a chance. It has dramatic structure not tied to typical beginning-middle-end story, nor does it have a solid sense of place, but a shifting which works well in refocusing us on the theme of conformity.
The dramatic structure is tied to the use of objects as transformative. People are not effected by people but rather by the objects the people create.
