Holograph, signed
Sarah Moore Grimké declines the invitation to return to Massachusetts. Grimké is grateful for her experiences in New England, but now that, according to Anne Warren Weston, "a door is open for the public labor of women in Mass[achusetts]," it appears to her less necessary to be there, as her "business is simply to open doors, or do the first rough work." Grimké feels "happy & grateful in our sweet retirement."
