In the margin of a printed circular entitled ́Church of Peterboro,́ which contains the resolutions and creeds of the Church of Peterboro, Gerrit Smith writes to Amos A. Phelps that he is unable to comply with Phelpśs invitation. In response to Phelpśs previous letter, he comments on the subject of Massachusetts ministers publicly preaching liberty in their pulpits
