William Lloyd Garrison sympathizes with Fanny Garrison Villard over the illnesses of her children. William L. Garrison fell on the ice on Winter Street and sprained his wrist. He thanks Fanny G. Villard for the German headrest for Mrs. Helen Eliza Garrison. William L. Garrison writes: "It seems in all probability Harry will not take you to Oregon." William L. Garrison encloses some "strictures by Gen. Butler upon the sensational newspapers in our midst, which explain why it is we seem to be so bad in manners and morals to European lookers-on."
