Title devised by cataloger
Oliver Johnson writes William Lloyd Garrison upon his return from Longwood, Pennsylvania, to New York City, to report on both the funeral of his wife Mary Anne, and the Yearly Meeting of Progressive Friends. Johnson states that Mary Anne's funeral service was "very tender and consoling", and that Garrison's address was read at the service. Johnson states that the "labor and excitement" of the Yearly Meeting were a "positive relief" to him, and that the meeting was one of their best, with Mary Livermore more than justifying the predictions made of her by Garrison. Johnson closes in detailing the sense of loneliness, grief, and loss following the passing of his wife of forty years
