Holograph, signed
On page three of this manuscript, there is a letter by William Lloyd Garrison to George William Benson. Garrison asks the Providence Anti-Slavery Society to postpone or adjourn its meeting until after the New Hampshire State Anti-Slavery Convention. Garrison refers to a birth in George William Benson's family
On pages one through two of this manuscript, there is a separate letter by George Thompson to George William Benson, written in Mrs. Tappan's Boarding House, Roxbury, near Boston, Nov. 1, 1834. George Thompson has to attend an anti-slavery convention in Concord, so he will be unable to attend the meeting of the Providence Anti-Slavery Society. He asks that this meeting be postponed a week. He tells of a speaking tour in Maine. George Thompson writes: "The meetings were all numerously and respectably attended."
