You know, we Dead fans can tend to get spoiled and take great sounding SBD's for granted - especially if we don't listen to many other live groups from this period.
Yeah, the more I collect boots from the 60's and 70's, groups like Procol Harum, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Van, Clapton, etc. I am continually amazed at just how few really good SBD's of these groups exist - when compared to the mountain of great Wall of Sound concerts that exist for the Grateful Dead which sound, well, you know, "just exactly perfect."
When it comes to The Feat - until you get to 1977, there are only a handful of great SBD's that circulate. This one here, unfortunately is not one of them.
However, it IS in stereo I believe, and actually a good quality AUD tape.
Hold it ************????????
Although the piano I'm now hearing in Dixie Chicken sounds like a SBD !!
So do the vocals. So I wonder - is this some kind of Matrix? Was it recorded ON the stage? You sure don't hear any crowd talking.
How about a poor high-gen FM radio broadcast? That's what this sounds like to me. Definitely not an AUD tape source. Also, the quality gets better as the show goes on, which may be a factor of the deterioration of tape over the years.
Anyway, I would give the quality a 2, maybe 3. But the show gets a 4 star. Plus, it's at Wembley in England, which is kinda rare for them.
A smokin show !! As said below, the Jam out of Cold Cold is fantastic. And the Tripe Face is over the top.
You just need a little EQ, good speakers, maybe some surround sound, and heh heh, some Bogart to make this show rock your body and mind.
Nobody sings Willin like Lowell. You know Zappa threw Lowell out of the Mothers for this song. True story.
cheers,
Dr. Flashback :-)

Yeah, there are better sounding tapes but these guys don't exactly have a ton of great sounding '70s live tapes. This is above average for sure. The band was consistantly hot in this era. I think 1/9/75 is a much more likely date as they were in England that month. I doubt they flew to London for 1 show. Wonder who they were opening for?

In this humble listener's opinion, one of the best live Feat jams ever recorded at the end of 'Cold, Cold, Cold."

This is good classic if you are a devoted fan of the old Little Feat, but there are better recordings of them for sure. The show is energetic but the quality leaves something to be desired.

Downloading this short set yesterday was like finding the fragment of a precious stone I lost ages ago. Overall, the recording is NOT groundbreaking, but it IS Lowell! Worth the download just to hear a truly manic "Teenage Nervous Breakdown".
