Notes
***Please note that this is sometimes mistaken
for June 17.
This is most probably an FM broadcast. Good sound
and show from the end of the Lowell Era.

Subject: Bad Shows?
Subject: Bad Shows?
Dr. Flashback asked:
"Did the Feat ever play a bad show? I've yet to hear one."
Several...the most common is "The Black Wendnesday Show" 1977-8-3 in London, when Paul & Lowell had bad hangovers.

Only Little Feat could begin a show with a song about a blow job and end the show with a song about smoking weed! Not even the Stones could do that.
Not the best FM tape, multi-gen no doubt. But at least it's better than an AUD. Unfortunately, this is likely one of the best sounding 1978 shows on LAMA at this time. But - it's also pretty good if you just tweak the stereo a bit.
And of course the playing is fantastic. Did the Feat ever play a bad show? I've yet to hear one.
Day or Night is like Scarlet Begonias with a lot more funk. Paul is on FIRE!! And Richie is playing some amazing drums here. Billy Cobham who?
Atlanta is fast and furious like a freight train with no brakes. The ending jam with Lowell and Paul is worthy of the Allman Bros.
Listen to Apolitical Blues, Bobby. THIS is how you play slide. Really down and dirty.
Dog Races allows the band to stretch out for 12 minutes and do some amazing jazz fusion, a la Weather Report or Todd's Utopia. The rhythm section never lets up, and Paul just plays the most freaked out, screaming long lines, with Bill keeping up at a close second. It's a race all right! A bass solo follows that would make Phil sit up and listen. Then a long funky jam that really brings down the house.
"When your mind makes a promise that your body can't fill" Ahhh.... we've all been there haven't we? The sax solo is nice here on Old Folks. Total breakdown barrel house rock. With more great duo guitar work by the boys. Hit that note!!
The cut in Dixie is really a shame. But Willin puts a smile back on your face. Dallas Alice. And Bogart takes me back to simpler, at least more tolerant times when you smoked freely at concerts and as long as you didn't make an ass of yourself, you were okay. I'm still..... missin you Lowell.
Great show. Sound is a 3 but 5 for the playing.
Highly recommended for what ails you.
cheers,
Dr. Flashback :-)

If this is the Little Feat show I attended at the Shrine (can't remember the exact date, not even the year; didn't think it was broadcast though), it truly ranks as one of the best shows I've ever seen (and my list is long). Long Live Lowell!!

Subject: Nice era - good show - average generated recording
Subject: Nice era - good show - average generated recording
No one will doubt the coolness and tight form of '78 Little Feat, who at this point had established themselves as a premier road and recording band. This show serves their legacy well. Unfortunately, as with many "rare" recordings, this has seen a few generations down on cassette from that era. So there is some hiss and flatter frequencies present. I would rate a solid 7.5 out of 10. Performance is tight and a great Lowell soulfullness to the
set. Forget spending billions on war, spend billions on a time machine to witness gigs such as this! ALSO - FITS ON (1) 80M. CDR -> DON'T WASTE (2) !
