Subject: Wanna see something funny?
"Are you a bill collector?"
"No, I'm a lawyer."
"That's what they all say"
And it goes on like that with straight faces.
If they put comic sound effects and music to it, it'd be a riot.

A touchy man down on his luck is chosen to be the victim of a life insurance scam by a couple in this suspense story. Like many failed suspense movies, it suffers from slow pacing and lack of imagination. Maybe I've been spoiled by films like 'Double Indemnity', 'Vertigo' and 'Chinatown'. A scene meant to show rising paranoia in the victim was almost laughably directed. The climax is marred by the victim and his bait apparently not hearing loud engine noise outside their isolated love nest in the mountains, which one would think heralded the arrival of the husband, and by the plotting scoundrels falling to their deaths noiselessly from the living room of the cabin. Weird. As others have noted, the acting by the principles is good.

I downloaded the mpeg1 file. There are a few annoying instances where frames are missing in the first half of the movie, but the video is good overall. The audio is also quite good.

Interestingly thought out thriller here, with Angela Lansbury (one of my favorite 60ÃÂs actresses) playing a seductress who may or may not be setting up her business partner to die just so she can collect on some life insurance they have put up for a business deal (donÃÂt ask, IÃÂm not 100% sure of the loginstics of it). Keith Andes, an actor who IÃÂve never heard of before, plays her would-be-victim. She of course plays up her sex to him, and Andes canÃÂt resist. Oh, and did I say Lansbury was married? Soon (well, actually, quite quickly) Andes wises up and tries to foil the plan, but Lansbury and husband have plan BÃÂs in place..

This was quite a tricky little thriller. It almost looks and seems like it once was a play at one time, what with itÃÂs dormitory sets, but the acting sure signs through. Lansbury is fabulous as usual, and I have no idea what became of Keith Andes, because he certainly had the looks and the acting chops to go a long way.

It does keep you guessing until the very end, but is sort-of long and drawn out. Pretty good acting, Angela Lansbury's performance was a pleasant surprise.
