)This is a solo electric guitar version of an old hymn, "Near the Cross", by WH Doane and Frances Jane (Fanny) Crosby, original publication date 1869. I got this from the Mutopia free sheet music project -- see http://www.mutopiaproject.org/cgibin/piece-info.cgi?id=495 for MIDI, lyrics, and sheet music.

My goal is partly to make something which is a good source for remixers, so I have followed the same kind of rules that apply to a vocal pella, e.g. no effects.

Subject: rate it honest
C'mon - 5 stars? It's a really simple guitar picked tune - 3 stars tops. I'll give it a 1 to balance it out.

Subject: Gentle useful solo
This quiet guitar take on a 19th Century hymn works very well. It deserves a remix into a fuller sound, but it is a subtle good listen just as it is now.
