ClamdustClamdust - Self-Titled (April 16, 2004)

Clamdust is James. James used to play in Language Arts, Bellingham's staple pop band of the last five years. This album is 16 tracks of four-tracked material that James wrote and recorded over the last 4-5 years. Mostly acoustic songs, they are filled out with all the lovely toys and harmonies that make modern indie pop just so sweet and delicious. Which isn't to say the album is all apple orchards and glee. James has a knack for the darker heartfelt, and it bleeds through. James is currently working on a new project called The Daffidils and is based in PDX, though a return to Bellingham is rumoured.

Subject: Anodyne is it
One thing you'll notice - the description mentions 16 tracks, but there are only 3 here. I can't account for this discrepancy. Another thing you might notice: Two of these songs, Motorbike and Take me to Your Leader, are identical to the ones on the Language Arts album elsewhere in the archive. Not only are they the same songs, they are the same recordings, downsampled to sound even shittier! Now, on the the actual songs themselves: If the low production quality doesn't bother you(It's not horrible), these simple melodies and Jame's sweet voice make for some satisfying listening. Listen to "Anodyne" for a song that will haunt you later(in a good way.)
