snowshoefilmspart 2 - 9/11 The Undeniable Unifying Framework: J. McMurtry (2007)

9/11: THE UNDENIABLE UNIFYING FRAMEWORK: JOHN McMURTRY (part 2) The Project for a New American Century (PNAC) telegraphed its recognition that "new Pearl Harbor" event had to occur before the global war on terror could be seriously launched. Four years later, on Sept. 11, 2001, George Bush noted in his diary, "The Pearl Harbor of the 21st Century took place today." (He seems to have put one and one together.) In part 2 of this series, Prof. McMurtry continues his structural analysis of why 9/11 happened when it did. He touches on the cover-up of the crime by the media which accepts and promotes the implausible official conspiracy theory. In illustrating the restrictions on public debate in Canada, McMurtry recalls a March 18, 2003, CBC Television debate between himself and Thomas Donnelly, a PNAC founder and American Enterprise Institute fellow. To charges that Donnelly was advocating war crimes by calling for and planning for the invasion of Iraq, the AEI 'scholar' offers this mantra-like defense, "The use of American power in the world has been, as a matter of practical and historical fact, the sole reliable instrument, first of all, for bringing peace and stability and freedom to the European continent. Secondly, we hope now to do the same sort of thing in Iraq." The upshot of this debate was that the CBC producer who brought on McMurtry on the program was fired. demoted out. Word of such corporate response gets around quickly and self-censorship follows. Official media contributes to the life-blinding of the public, and itself. Part 3 concludes with structural analysis of the structural analysts. (10 min.)
