Subject: Crude and essential early Mekons
Not a crudely recorded show, in fact the sound is excellent - the audience is enthusiastic but never obstructs enjoyment of the Mekons back when they "couldn't play their instruments" but sometimes sounded like Beefheart's apprentices. When their lack of skill called for inventive ways to deliver songs which are now classics.
Setlist correction:
01 Country
02 (I Don't Want To) Hang Up My Rock and Roll Shoes
03 Say Hello, Wave Goodbye (Soft Cell)
04 King Bee
05 Corporal Chalkie
06 Last Dance
07 The Building
08 (I Don't Want To) Hang Up My Rock and Roll Shoes
09 Where Were You
10 I'm A Man
11 Never Been In A Riot
12 Corporal Chalkie
My guess is the first 4 tracks are from the closing part of a different show to the rest.
Don't bother downloading track 5 - it is repeated as track 12, where it should be.
There are cuts and abrupt edits here but they seem to add to the general anarchic feel of the show.
Mekons are the best band at the LMA if you want to hear the progress of a true punk-era band to a still-thriving outfit which has never played it safe and has remained unclassifiable.

Subject: Great Stufff
I have agree... strange show -- and wonderful to hear. But with the many incarnations of this band "strange" was a norm. Pretty good for a band that Virgin signed because they wanted a "loud, angry punk band" in their roster.
I would like to suggest a change in the location though.
During the show -- just into track 4 -- they say "we love you, uh, Utrecht."
The pause "uh" makes me think 1) This is a Utrecht audience 2) The band was tour weary (intoxicated possibly) and had no idea where they were, other than the Nederlands *chuckle*.
A great show!!

Uploader writes: (I'm not too sure about the songs, maybe someone corrects me) Truly a strange show with several flaws, but nevertheless a classic. I'm not sure if it's Den Haag, if it's one or two shows, but it's the Mekons.
