Subject: A Rousing Manifestation of the Mekons' Musical Muse
It's a shame this delirious, hard-charging show opens with "Memphis Egypt", because it's a bit tentative and the sound isn't mixed right. And considering the remainder of the show is a howling, dizzy delight, that just sucks.

I am also compelled to point out the end of "Darkness" is M.I.A.

But if you can ignore these distractions, this show is every bit the review's title says it is. Abolutely, positively essential. Call in Mekons and hear this now. There's no better way to start the day.

Excellent performance, excellent recording. The Mekons' unique mix of influences and styles really gelled with this one. The band's oddball sense of humor really comes through, and you can tell that the audience is really digging what they're doing.

One minor issue: there are so many encores that I tend to suspect that some of them came from another source. But what the hell, it's all good! :)

Subject: Excellent show - great sound, great performance
If I had to pick a favorite show, this may very well be it. It's an excellent soundboard copy, and a great performance - the band members lock in to each other real tight, but they're still a bit ragged around the edges, which is how you'd want them to sound.

From the same time they released "Rock 'N' Roll," arguably one of their two best albums. Possibly my favorite period in terms of live performance.
