Subject: Just Enjoy It
Seems there is a lot of back and forth on the issue of the secret songs, get over it, they're here. This show is fantastic, very little crowd noise, great set list good banter and Kaki King, doin her thing.

Subject: my interpretation of johns request
i was about ten or twelve feet from the stage and as far as i recall, what he said was to feel free to share the songs. i didnt really know for sure what he meant at the time, but it now seems clear he was referring to a live bootleg recording or whatever.

what he said about keeping it secret, was that "when your friends ask you" to tell them he played something else. then he quipped something to the effect of "tell them i played song for Song for Dennis Brown." then poeple started cheering, to which he replied, "no, thats not what this song is."

so, no, he didnt play Song for Dennis Brown, and yes, i would now agree that including those secret songs in the setlist typed out would be tantamount to not respecting his wishes to keep it a secret. however, i think that it might be fine after the tour is finished so that there is an accurate record, since thats pretty much what this site is all about.

i think he just wanted to avoid everyone else down the line on this tour complaining that he just played those songs in portland and so should play them there too.

Subject: Missing title
track #13's title is Supergenesis. It's on the tour EP called Black Pear Tree and is a collaboration between JD & KK.

I don't think 14 is actually a song, but a big mess of fun that trails out from Supergenesis. They did something like that at Park West in Chicago at the start of the tour.

Also, the person who wrote down the setlist got it wrong. Track #8 is Going to Georgia and Track #9 is Song for Dennis Brown. Refer to the stage patter to confirm.

Subject: regarding the "secret songs"
before playing the "secret songs," john states: "i don't mean you can't share the songs... it's like not the kind of song i want to play on request... i only play it if i really feel like it." this seems to be an approval of having those songs up here on the archive.

John specifically requests that tracks 8 and 9 be kept secret. You really ought to respect his wishes and remove them.

Could you perhaps remove the songs he wanted kept a secret?
