Subject: awesome recording...Thanks!!!
Man, Mickey and his band have such an awesome sound and this fine recording brings that out. How is this boring, dude obviously never seen this band live. I didn't attend this show but I seen the Greensburg show a few nights later. I stumbled apon this recording looking for a quality version of Eyes. Porter & Kimock play the Dead so great and actually it should be an honor to have and ex-Dead member wanting you in their band to perform GD songs. I really don't get how Trueski doesn't get it or understand it. I'm actually surprised the dude even knows who they are.
Great sound on this...a must DL.
Also, stellar jams and awesome arrangements of GD songs.

Subject: Funky & Delicious!
This is an excellent recording! As for the music, lets be honest - this is about Kimock, Porter & Hollingsworth jamming at a near cosmic level over the buoyant beat of Mickey and his fellow drummers. Being a huge dead and kimock fan I have heard the dreary reviews of this band. This show should put those to rest. I would highly suggest downloading this show onto your ipod and getting your groove on. A funk fest of a Shakedown starts things off. About half way through I realized, that George Porter and Shakedown are a perfect match! Good stuff! The Eyes > Good Lovin is great. Kimock heads will get off on the Mutron solo that ate NYC during The Center. Mmmmm good. If you are curious - download this show. LOTS to like here folks. And man is it fun to hear Steve Kyle & George get down together. This show is solid!

This band is great. True masters on the cosmic rock and roll train. Steve Kimock exploded on Eyes sending out fantastic waves of sound. Hart was on fire. Kyle played the keys with spirit and mountain force. George was Funky, Jen sang up a storm. The drummers were excellent. The songs were groovin. A great time, the music never stopped. Kimock is a star !

An All-Star Band

Subject: Nothing boring at all
It is too bad some people feel the need to write reviews without listening to the show. The Dead covers were very interesting in that they were done in the style of Hart's previous work with Mystery Box.

Loved the new songs, and The Center shows how powerful Hollingsworth's influence can be. If I hadn't known who I was listening to, I would have thought that was SCI.

Jen was out of tune on some songs, but for the most part, the vocals were powerful and in context with the performance.

Excellent recording, thanks for the upload.

Overall, a pretty good setlist, loved hearing Kimock and Porter together. As for the vocals, call a plumber. The pipes need fixin'

Subject: Well of course I like my own recording ;-)
I give it 5 stars hell I recorded it.. Don't all tapers think there stuff deserves 5 stars... LOL All kidding aside it is a great recording. Stay tuned for the 24bit I will be be seeding at LL and etree will not load that to the archive.

Between Derek and me we taped Morristown, Pa, Patchougue and the Fillmore. I taped 3rd row dfc mMrristown and as we know 1st row balcony was the spot to be. Derek got it with the 184's! This was by far and away the best night for the band of the 4. They just kept getting better and better. What a line up. The shows were next to empty. GO see them if you have a chance well worth it support this line up. George Porter Jr. is a god and well Kimock nuff said. Kyle Hollingsworth has a great showing to. Jen's pipes are good too... Go support live music!

In edit (7/18/08): For those of you that are whaling on the band... Jen's voice is great. If you sing you know. The keys of many of the tunes are low range for her so the stretch to go octave up is tough.. If you listen to Jam band music there are no good singers and she is great! LOL

As for playing GD music... The crowd that goes wants that. Slamming the band or the show for personal song choice is not in line with what I think the spirit of what the reviews are for. The review is to let people know if this is a good or bad recording of the band in question; and weather or not in comparison with their other performances its shines or is dull... It just plain ain't a place to slam the total body of work of an ensemble or tour based on your overall listening choices... :-)

I hate U2 for example but I would never go and review them as bad or good as my opinion does not carry weight for those who are interested in the finer points of this vs that show...

Just a thought... Not an attack... In the end I believe that these ratings serve that purpose and a disservice is done to the interested party for these recordings as a whole :-)

It is tangential but the idea: 'If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it' somewhat applies in a way. Yet I'm not saying that negative reviews of this show or recording are unacceptable but need to be in better context.... :-)

Love A

Great recording......

BUT, It's sad to see such amazing musicians as George Porter Jr. and Steve Kimock playing Dead Covers. Borrrrrrrrring. Band seems like they are going through the motions and the vocals are just terrible!!!

A fine recording, the band is tight, but Jen seems to keep losing her keys.

I don't think I've given a 5 star rating on The Archive before. This is a top notch recording. Sounds like a soundboard. No crowd chatter. I like what the band is doing and looking forward to taping them tonight in Buffalo! woohoo! Thanks Adam!
