Subject: Inexplicably awesome
Childhood memories, smoothed and blurred in nostalgic sepia glow, surface effortlessly subtly and unobstrusively in this dimly glowing, beautiful work of music. This is GOOD STUFF! The absolute pinnacle of all ambient works I have ever heard. (And I have heard a lot! Check my other reviews.)

Personal favorites: When I listen to 'Dachfenster', my imagination goes straight, unbidden, to a vision of lying down in the backseat of a car, as a child, on some long, nighttime car trip, watching the street lights flow by, and wondering what existed beyond the unbelieveably peaceful, even boring suburban life...dreaming of something mysterious.

The fact that this simple song creates such an immediate vivid picture with no thinking involves testifies to the power of this new form of music, and this singular artist.

Aus musikalischer Sicht gibt es an Vorstadt nichts zu meckern; es ist sogar ziemlich gut. Hier geht es leise, sehr ruhig und langsam zu. Die Lieder bestechen durch das Kleine, durch das sanfe Klicken, Klacken und Klopfen. Diese Musik kann unglaublich beruhigen, läd zum Dösen oder gar Einschlafen ein - dies ist im positiven Sinne zu verstehen.

Lediglich die Namensgebung des Albums und der Lieder gefällt mir nicht. Natürlich steht jedem frei, sich seine eigene Welt aufzubauen, seine Vorstellungen in die Bahnen zu lenken, an denen man Gefallen findet oder einfach nur zu hören, sich völlig fallen zu lassen, komplett abzuschalten; doch von den Titel wird immer ein Weg vorgegeben, der nicht immer einfach zu verlassen ist. Mir hätte Naturbezogenheit oder auch die Assoziation mit einem kleinen idyllischen Bauerndorf besser gefallen als die einer Vorstadt.
