ShrineShrine - Harmony, Bliss, Rust [mir020] (March 4, 2006)

try new player!embedding and help

The man behind Shrine is Hristo Gospodinov from Bulgaria. After several years of playing various acoustic instruments Hristo finally turns into sampling to express his musical ideas in a different way. "Shrine" was started in 2003 in order to create unusual type of ambient. Since then til now his music has evolved into a different directions but always in the field of drifting ambient soundscapes. "Harmony, Bliss, Rust" contains three lengthy tracks which will take you to uncharted desolate places with their slowly evolving sounds. Although the songs are very soft and laidback it doesnt keep Shrine from playing around with distortion, first with some light distortion in Harmony and later with more and more. This doesn't keep the album from being soothing, it works great both as usual background ambience and for active listening.

Subject: I wish all netlabel ambient was this good...

The title of the release grabbed me first-- and the music is just as intriguing! All the tracks are lovely-- many textures, layers, and even a bit melodic, I wish all netlabel ambient was this good...
the final track belongs on a compilation--
fantastic work!
