Subject: How about some respect
I don't see any mini-disc or otherwise lossy recording equipment in this lineage. Looks good to me.
I fully support a taper's request for lossless only distribution. I'd never want to discourage a taper from distributing a show.
I've been to shows with no tapers. I've also seen shows and not been able to find a source in circulation. Musiclover_shn apparently hasn't had that problem. I'd think twice before demanding your lossy .mp3's to be available for download. And to just assume that some other taper will be there. Did you ever think about purchasing a DAP that plays FLAC's? How about encoding your own .mp3's? Can't afford a high speed connection? Try mail trading.
I listened to this source through my component stereo and it sounds quite good compared to the 8 other MMJ audience recordings I've heard on the archive. Even if is a little heavy on the low end. Sounds good to me.
As for the show itself, wasn't there, but looks like fun.

Subject: MP3's and OGG sound like CR*P!
I taped this. Wish it wasn't here in MP3/OGG format. Makes me want to keep my recordings to myself and my fellow tapers.
Thanks for uploading though. I will upload my other MMJ recordings (if they can be posted without compressed formats).
Looks like I have to give myself a rating. I'm modest so I will only rate the show.
Oh, yep those Oktavas are a bit heavy on the low end.
EDIT: In response to the above review the Nomad will record at EXACTLY the same quality as DAT. So that is why I don't want compressed versions of that. And as far as MiniDisc goes if you start with a compressed source (minidisc) and compress it again (to MP3) it's going to sound even worse.

Subject: relax
thanks for uploading the shows - but it's a bit funny for someone who tapes first with minidisc and then with a nomad to act like such a purist about mp3 or ogg... not only do many serious gear heads and purists use compressed formats for portable players, many serious fans cannot afford broadband access. in any event, taping in boulder you are not likely to be the only taper, so do what you want - other sources will emerge. the show belongs to the musicians and not the taper.

Subject: Great Show
I was at this one. Wonderful set list and wonderful show. They played Cobra! This recording is a little heavy on the bottom end, but then again so is the MMJ sound.
