The Dylan cover is a treat, and the recording is fine, but I wouldn't rank this one as one of the Jacket's finest on the Archive.
The "new song" is Into the Woods.

This is a pretty decent recording. As Pat B said, the 2004 Toronto Opera House is probably the best sounding show, though this is still rather good.
Overall, the sound here is more raw. Much more of an overall mix of sound as you would get at a concert. The bass is there, but it is more a part of the music than you being able to pick out individual notes. The guitars sound reverbish as all hell, but crystal clear when they play em that way. As with any audience recording, the crowd can be heard . . . however they never really annoy. In fact, you can't even hear them unless MMJ is playing an acoustic-based song (or clapping at the end of songs).
I highly recommend this show if you want a more organic feel to a recording than what the 2004 Toronto Opera House gives you. I actually prefer this show myself. Better energy. Better performance.

This was my first My Morning Jacket show. I came in with extremely high expectations and was still blown away. The energy was very high, and the sound is pretty good - very good for an audience recording. I suggest that the 2004 Toronto Opera House is still the best SOUNDING show on the archive, but this one certainly captures a lot of energy.
This band, which is part like an electric-reverb drenched-Neil Young, living deep in the legacy of Southern Rock legends like the Allmans and the Black Crowes, still kick out their music like a gritty garage band. The ballads are polished with the chrome of a pedal steel guitar, and they can pull of a Prince cover like it's their own.
Enjoy!

Thank you thank you thank you for getting this show up so soon. I saw MMJ at Bonnaroo this year for the first time and I had a frickin blast, and the show was great b/c of the puppets and conductor. However, this chicago show blew Bonnaroo away musically, which is the most important. Any fan of true glorious rock music should hear this recording...NOW!

I was at this show, I was way in front and I must say that My Morning Jacket ranks as one of the best live acts today. This show was filled with new songs and rarities that I had never heard. They ended with a 'one big holiday' that kicked so much ass and Jim James proved that he is an OUTSTANDING frontman, I cannot even tell you how on they were. I have not listened to the disc on CD yet and I doubt it will capture how great this show was but being at this show was great. So download this and get ready to hear some great rock n roll.
