The song American Summer was written in 2001 by Bradley Davis specifically for inclusion on the cassette compilation Galaxy Beach (GAL-015) released by Japans Galaxy Train Records. The demo version was released under the name of Brads old band Oval-Teen.
By this time, Lake Holiday was a fully formed band made up of key members BRAD DAVIS, CLAY JONES, FIVE SEVENTEEN, KATE WARREN & FRANK YANG who would continue on to record Lake Holidays debut record (set for release in 2005) and in preparation for live shows this demo was quickly learned and soon became a staple of the set. The song was also played on CBC Radio 3 (Vol.3 Issue 4 - Oct 1/04).
This EP is the second in the as yet unfinished "Summer EP" series. The first EP is available here.
Also of note is a cover of The Magnetic Fields song Born on a Train which included transitional Lake Holiday members LAURA BARRETT and CRAIG BRIGGS.
