Alright, I have to admit. I really haven't been up my my 2004 moe. I think the last show I heard was from back in April in Columbus, OH.
But when I heard that they brought back Dr. G(!!!) at my favorite outdoor venue in the country, I had to give the tapes a listen.
And all I can say is, wow! The band was definitely operating on a special level on 8/15/04. There is a different quality to the music than I'm used to, a kind of spaciousness and electronic pulse at times that I really like. It's very enjoyable. Damn... I can't wait to see this band again if this is any indication of where they're at right now.
And Jon Merin, I don't know you personally. But Happy 100th. And Thanks for the tapes! These really sound great. :)

Can I just post my 2 cents, and whole-heartedly agree with mr Bonaroo Bob in praising Jon for his incredibly consistent recording and posting techniques, and congratulate him on another great tape and a continued stellar effort in delivering live moe. to us.
Incredibly, although we are both using similar rigs, and attend similar shows, this was the first show which i ever met Jon, and it was a pleasure talking, although briefly, with him and giving him a [Phuck Coventry...gimme some moe. (Mishawaka)] t-shirt on his celebratory 100th show. I heard rob or one of the guys mention happy 100th but i was not aware it was for Jon.
Anyway, i think the tapes sound great, as always, and wanted to share some more good karma for Mr Merin.
>>was dr. graffenberg a request for Jon?? haven't seen that played in a while...

A very good recording for a very good show, for which I write to praise John Merin. You've seen his work all over this Moe. site, you've seen the time and care he has taken to bringing us great d/l's of great Moe. shows. See especially his work on the JamBand cruise in March, 2004.
Without people like John, we would not have the opportunity to enjoy this band, or the others at Archive.org. It's not just the taping, it's the extra time it takes to process, format, double-check, and upload, all for nothing except the pleasure of passing along great tunes.
When I'm looking for a new Moe. show, I look first to see if there's a Merin copy. I have yet to be disappointed. So thank you, John Merin, I appreciate your efforts.
And it's really cool for you to be recognized by the band itself, on a show you yourself are taping, when they announce after 'Letter Home", "this is John's 100th show". Awesome!
