March 19, 2008 Subject: awesome show shitty venue Boone NC is a cool town. I've been there several times and enjoy everything it has to offer. This particular night it was cold, windy and snowing. We made the trek from our hotel to legends (about a 15 minute walk), and got in line to go inside. Legends is a small venue, I think capacity is less than 1000. The show was BYOB, which was cool, but they had this ticket system that was ass-backwards. You had to bring your beer stub up to the bar (which took nearly an hour because the staff consists mainly of stoners and morons, and the line was 200 people deep), where they had to see your wristband and punch a hole in the ticket. Ridiculous. The show, on the other hand, was one of the best I have seen in recent years. The band was clearly having fun, and the crowd was totally into it, feeding off the energy flowing from the band and vice versa. Every song has noteworthy moments, but SDB and The Road stand out, if only for the fact that they rarely get played. First set is very solid. Second set rocks your face. Highly recommend the download. Lots of crowd in between songs and at the beginning of songs ( e.g. wooooohooooo!), but the levels aren't bad when the people quiet down. Show = 5 stars Recording = 3 stars Venue = 1 star.
