Subject: thanx, Scott...
johnCoctosen, waste of time. how does Scott taping FOB ruin the scene? It seems your scene is easily flustered. It's funny your bent outta shape over someone doing something for the better of us all. You do know it doesn't cost a cent but some bandwidth to download.
You're right, Scott. it does sound a little more FULL sounding upfront. We got there a little late of Friday(still in time for the show). Our only option was the section. I wanted to go upfront but decided against it. you were already there and figured the more wouldn't mean the merrier in that place. We stuck to the section. sorry you had to move. Was looking forward to a good tape from FOB.

Subject: Scott B
Scott is one of the most fearless tapers out there - he takes risks with his gear that most can't or won't do - he also allows other tapers to patch directly out of his rig - Scott also shares his "treasure" with anyone who wants to download it - this is the kind of karma that needs to be appreciated
I have taped with and near Scott for many years and his karma towards others with less than he has is simply outstanding - please do not share incorrect information about someone who does (and has done) so much for the moe. family
anyone listen to the Amsterdam shows ?
thanks again, Scott !!!

Subject: Dude...????
What are you talking about? I showed up at 7:15 and waited in line just like everyone else. Does that make my recording "guilty by association" with another taper who cut you in line???? What exactly does that have to do with me or this recording????
I went up front to try to make a better recording, at my own personal risk to my gear and my own show enjoyment for the good of the community so EVERYONE could hear a better recording. I made sure to get agreement from people in the moe. crew that it was OK with them, but was told that the venue might have a problem with it. The venue security came and nicely asked me move back after the first set.
And in terms of "blocking peoples' hard-won view" -- the people around me at the show were very appreciative of us taping and were asking me where and when I was going to post it -- not once did anyone come up to complain about what we were doing.....
All this said, I think that the 1st set does sound somewhat better from our efforts up front -- the presence and stereo separation are really warm and close-up sounding.
Don't tell me that you would prefer to download "tapers' section" recordings over kind FOB recordings when done well....someone had to take the risk to make them before you can download them, and really that's no personal affront to everyone who makes really nice section recordings.
Don't take out some personal issue that you have with someone cutting you in the line (which had NOTHING to do with me), or make it some kind of personal attack on me for trying to make a better tape without listening to the recording.
That is really silly. Don't bring your personal issues out here.

Subject: never knock a taper...
unless its is Absolutely necessary & called for, I just don't see this being one of those situations (however, I was not there to witness these shinannigans and can just add my .02 from what is posted).
Thank you for your time and energy in keeping these shows alive for the masses.

Subject: Great Show- Crap recording- Jerky Taper
Don't download this show, not only does it sound bad. you would be sharing in the Karmic-badness that this taper brings to the shows. Scott's buddy (the Papa-Smurf lookalike) cut the ticket line and wanted to fist-fight me when I tried to point that out to him, needless to say he didn't go to the end of the line. Further, the dude set up in the middle of the floor, rather than in the TAPERS SECTION. Again, they brought attitude when people asked them not to block their hard-won view. Finally Security rousted them out in Set 2. People like this ruin the scene. Think Peace, Scott. Besides, FOB sounded better in this cattle-shack.
