There was some strange rule in effect at the venue that mic stands were not allowed to be taller than 7 feet -- which was strange as nobody could explain why the rule was in place -- especially since it had never been in place before and it was not mandated by the band. And the security staff decided that they were going to enforce this rule to the letter. In fact, in my nearly 30 years of taping, this was the first time I'd ever been taping at a venue and had someone pull out a tape measure to check the height of the stand my mics were on. This is not generally terrible, but since there was a TON of crowd noise (claps, whistles, WOOs, yells, etc.) it just added that much more work to my mastering burden of scrubbing (or minimizing) those blemishes on my recording. I spent a TON of time cleaning this one up, so I hope you all enjoy this one in all of its glory! (Hence I counted about *** 500 *** claps, whistles, "woo"s, yells, etc. from zealous fans that I scrubbed completely or minimized from this recording.)
