"propergol y colargol is the result of the meeting of two musicians who decided, in july 2002, to share and to confront their musical approaches. the album presented here was produced in brest (finistère - france) between 2002 and 2003. inspired by the atmospheres developed by stylus or sonic boom and admiring the compositions of organisation (kraftwerk's first band), we tried to create a music where the feeling of immersion would prevail. far from music for massages and other cerebral laxatives, our music attempts at giving life some virtual electronic matter in using drones and cyclic repetitive themes. rhythms are often extremely filtered and the crystalline impression (that arises from the exploration of the top of the sound spectrum) creates a music which is all at once sharp, icy and hypnotic. during live shows, our performances are made with keyboards connected to a computer and we're accompanied by pol, a video artist from brest. repetitive loops, samples and other musical items can thus be set off in an instinctive way. we're happy that our music (because we wanted it to be exacting but generous) can go through the distribution circuit experimented by stéphane / autres directions in music." propergol y colargol [pyc@autresdirections.net]

"Two musicians from France, these Propergol Y Colargol, who play atmospheric music and cite Stylus, Sonic Boom and Organisation (Kraftwerk's first guise) as their influence. The atmospheric music is made by various keyboards connected to a computer and each of the eleven tracks cycle around one theme and over that theme some other sounds are added, but each is a specific theme. Occassionally I though to hear guitar-like sounds, but it might very well be sampled. In most of the pieces the melancholical card is played, with keys in minor and a darker mood is never far away. Technoid rhythms are also sometimes used, which add a more modern feel to this somewhat cosmic music. Overall, I thought this was a pleasent, rich tapestry of sound, which enjoyed me throughout."

"This is No. 7's release of the label and net-label Autres Directions In Music based in Nantes. Seven productions in just a short time make think that this platform is valued by the independent artists as a new form of spread out their music, without being circumscribed to the label's marketing decisions.
Propergol and Colargol are Manu C. and Reno B. that formed in July 2002, influenced by the hypnotic sound ex-Spacemen 3 Peter Kemper, aka Sonic Boom. Of course this disc has mantra drones through its keyboards, loops and specially the sound of analogous processed synthesizer is present in almost all this album. From a principle the duo showcase charged atmospheres of ambient bit noisy and dense like which it opens this record, 'No particular destination' or the hypnotic 'Aunties annies' and 'Ass.music.etna.zö club'.
'Nordstern' seems a classic of the cosmic corridors of Klaus Schulze, in as much 'O'fantasmo' it shows to an experimental facet and improvisation. In sum this disc it has attractive atmospheres where the seventies electronic music and nowadays merged together."

"The seventh release on Adim is brought to you by Propergol y Colargol. Their album entitled Charly Roger. Songs for fuzzycandy LP is Moulin007 its great. No Particular Destination sets of in a beatless and dark direction. Il Covo Club adds some structure to the sonic picture and its understated beats are decidedly glitchy. Aunties Annies contains echoed and layered disharmonic sounds fused with straight-forward yet feather-light beats creating a haunting effect and its quite nice at that. Ass.Music.Etna.Zö Club keeps the dark atmosphere with its beatless and desolate soundscapes. And it continues in Benjamines Spasm sounding like a recording of an alien radio transmission slowly being transformed into a slightly more earthly sounding song. Café Trauma if not feeling all that well maybe you shouldnt go? In -22- theres a catch, its reversed and watch those speakers/headphones when the treble onslaught sets in, intriguing. In Forum Stadpark Propergol y Colargol show a friendlier side with a sounding-like-harmonica-melody, distinct beats and a lot of atmosphere, but the question is can you trust them? Hitchhicking Non-stop is also treading on the gentler side of things and is virtually beatless. Nordstern and Ofantasmo conclude the album. The sound is very individual and maybe not on a beginners level, I for one find the Charly Roger. Songs for Fuzzycandy LP thoroughly enjoyable in some strange mysterious way. Adim full speed ahead, never mind the icebergs!"

"Another release from the autres directions in music label, this is the best album ive reviewed so far for tesselate, its literally amazing, a sort of labradford meets stars of the lid meets minimalistic aphex twin meets rothko meets boards of canada in a big brothel in the sahara, this release makes me want to push my face flat. and thats not a bad thing.
if oxygen molecules emitted sound, propergol would be that sound, tracks like 'Il Covo Club' literally smash my brain out, beautifully crafted original electro ambience from alpha centauri, il covo shows you a cupboard, you look inside, theres a fucking door through to narnia, and its an ice world and youve got a shitting playstation 1 controller as a weapon, and some fuckedup dwarf is your guide through the icy wasteland, this is an aural treat of the highest order.
"Ass.Music.Etna.Zö Club" opens with a wave of noise dancing from left to right, left to right, and you might be scared cos you just heard a noise downstairs and was it the cat or a burglar? who knows, but this track is just too damn good so you lie back and let it wash over you. youre scared but you like it you damn dirty ape.
"-22-" hugs you like a mother, a real wall of sound, thats friendly and fantastic, distorted chords of beauty wrap you up like a kinder surprise and all you can do is smile cos youre happy and your ears are happy and yeaaah. Also check out "Forum Stadpark" which strokes the back of your neck with a high pitched lead phrase and some ace sine wave action, its a highlight of the album, youknowit.
I could keep going into detail about the tracks, but they are all so good i would have to tell u about all of them, and i want you to discover the ultra beauty inside this album, it surprises and scares and soothes and floats and dons a crown made of gold and a sash that says 'this album is the shit'. so go and get it, 10/10 all the way sir and madam."
