THE ULTRASONIC PULSE METHOD WAS USED TO MEASURE THE TEMPERATURE CHANGES, ELASTIC MODULI, THE CONSTANTS C SUB (IK) AND S SUB (IK), THE ANISOTROPY FACTOR, THE UNIFORM COMPRESSION COEFFICIENT, AND POISSON'S RATIO. THE MEASUREMENTS WERE MADE IN THE TEMPERATURE RANGE OF 300 TO 1200 K FOR NACL AND 80 TO 300 K FOR KCL. BASED ON THE VALUES OF THE ELASTIC CONSTANTS, EXTRAPOLATED TO 0 K, THE DEBYE TEMPERATURE OF THE COMPOUNDS WAS FOUND.
