Two long saz improvisations recorded against a backdrop of nightingale song in a valley near Canterbury (UK), also some field recordings of the nightingales (plus traffic, aircraft noise, etc.)
Tracks 1 and 3 were recorded on 11th May 2008; tracks 2 and 4 were recorded the next day. The former involve me playing improvised saz, the latter are just nightingales (and ambient sound). This is all from the Sarre Penn valley near Canterbury - here, more precisely.
Unfortunately the nightingales were further back than usual in the abandoned pear orchard where they sing every night this time of year, so I had to turn my record levels right up, resulting in a lot of hiss. Wind in the poplar trees also contributes to the general hissiness of the sound. It's probably best to listen to this stuff through headphones. As well as the traffic and aircraft noise, in the 12/05 recordings, the faint babble of the Sarre Penn may be audible (I recorded these from a small wooden bridge over the stream).
It's not exactly Beatrice Harrison, but it's still worth making available here, I hope...
