Francesco TamagnoNiun Mi Tema (Morte D'Othello) (1903)

This is another Creator record, here we have the first Othello in Verdi's opera and just a year and a half from his death in 1905. Tomangno was the first singer who held that magic quality that he sings from the grave and much was made of that near 100 years ago.

Subject: Groaaaaan
Very subtle and nice little song here. I've never heard this tenor before, but does an amicable job on such a difficult piece. Curious groan at the end of the record though, what's that all about? Part of the piece?
