Wonderful performance. I don't particularly care much for David's take on the Weight or Honkey Tonk Women though. Stellar recording. I downloaded this two or maybe even four years ago and I keep coming back to it.

This is a real treat and very nicely recorded too.
I prefer the New Riders with Jerry on pedal steel.

Absolutely perfect.

I downloaded most of The New Riders concerts from these archives - put them on mp3 player in my car and this one just knocked me out. The sound is magnificent and you can hear the separation in the speakers. Jerry on pedal steel is absolute heaven to me. Just loved Down In The Boondocks.
All this for free! Highly recommended as it does not get any better than this in my book.

This is one of my favorite concert recordings. This is what good music is all about. It makes you feel good, it's entertaining, and can take you places, if you really listen.

What a treat. A soundboard of Jerry with the New Riders. Thank you for the upload!

THIS IS A GREAT SHOW TO WARM UP TO THE DEAD. I WISH THOUGH, THE APRIL 26TH WOULD APPEAR HERE. IT USED TO BE AVAILABLE ALONG WITH THE GRATEFUL DEAD'S SHOW OF THE SAME DATE, BEFORE THE HAMMER CAME DOWN. OH WELL MAYBE SOME DAY!

Subject: Great Stuff
This is really a great recording.
Would give it a 5 but that is reserved for historical performances (Hendrix at Woodstock, Dylan at Newport...you get the idea) The sound quality here is amazing considering it is 1971. The separation is noticable. Marmaduke is in great voice. Dryden's drumming is danged near perfect. Garcia seems so fresh and unencumbered by his Dead persona (which is something, considering he took the stage with them mere minutes later). It is just a joy to listen to. Fine, fine American Music.
Highlights:
Workingman's Blues, Fair Chance to Know, Glendale Train...but hell, its all real good.

Subject: Damn good show.
I'm a bit new to NRPS; this is some damn good music. The recording quality is excellent compared to many shows this old; this is a very enjoyable set. Well worth the download. The version of 'The Weight' is interesting as well as Jerry's slidework. Very muchso outstanding.

A good show, remarkably well recorded. Except for "Connection," however, it just never seems to get really cookin'.

I concur with the first reviewer- very sweet. But, is that clipping I hear during The Weight? Or did this come from a vinyl pressing of some sort? Sometimes the clipping sounds just like vinyl. I'm guessing it's clipping. Strange that it's the only place on the entire recording to exhibit this phenomenon. Perhaps the track was edited seperately from the rest of the tracks. Still WAY worth the download.

This time period was the best when I used to see them. Jerry would always make my eyes water with that high lonesome sound that he was the best at. This version of The Weight is one of the best available. The sound quality is pretty good as well and I would recommend getting this one.
