Subject: Abstract Miracle
How an artist can take a collection of abstract sounds and randomly mold them into something so aesthetically pleasing is a miracle in my mind. Antanas JasenkaÂs ÂZachetea is one such recent example of this extraordinary phenomenon. A prime example on this album is the aptly named Âerror where the opening few seconds of toy-like sounds, tiny bleeps, and grating noises progress into several minutes of a beautifully deep and intense drone expertly textured with a variety glitch-like sounds. Another example is the chaotic and nostalgic and oddly named track Âmartin golden ass in which a collage of looped radio voice samples, static, sizzling electronics, and other assorted anomalies make this one of the richest (and harshest) tracks on the album. An excellent release from Nishi. -LAJ-
