James SchidlowskyJames Schidlowsky - Souterra (In Search of Providence) [nt093] (December 21, 2006)

James Schidlowsky collected all the sounds and noises of this sonic journey in the Montreal subway system. Since Providence is the name given previously to the monitoring and security hub of the undergound transportation system, this sound ecology project can be interpreted as an reflexion on its structure, or even a quest for its true meaning - a search for its symbolic 'heart'. The fundamental essence of this quest is explained in great details here.

Subject: about the creative commons license
no type's web releases have always been very much about the artist keeping as much control as possible over their work. this is why we chose this creative commons license which seems to us as the best midpoint between artist & listener.

please contact the artist directly if you intend to create a derivative work, or if you want to use this work for a commercial venture. it's really as simple as that.

Subject: Creative Commons Choice
Why choose "No Derivative Works" for your Creative Commons rights? You're well within your rights, but it seems a bit odd. Otherwise, these recordings are splendid.
