On December the 21st we posted an advertisement on our myspace site, calling for artists to submit a track for this Christmas release. This is what it said:
“Hohoho! Christmas is coming. And don't we hate it. Well, we at Okkulth do. So we want to release a compilation called 'Darkmass 2008'. Hopefully it will be an anual thing. Rules: only dark ambient and/or drone, composed especially for this comp, deadline: Dec.24. So you have to express your hate for Christmas in a subdued manner. And you have to do it quickly! Compilation will be released on Dec.25. Get started suckers!”
We thought: hey, it would be nice to have a little compilation, couple of good tracks to get us at least one hour of fun over the holiday season. Well, the response was incredible, given the short amount of time: a massive 27 tracks were submitted! Clearly, we’re not the only ones not so fond of Christmas! So the little comp has become quite a big one (and yes, a little noise crept in there).
Spread over 2 volumes, this is our Christmas present to you. It takes a little while to unwrap, but it’s worth it! Enjoy!
The intention of Okkulth releases is that they are dubbed onto cassettes. These songs will fit onto two sides of two C90 tapes. It is recommended that you use the PDF files to print the artwork. In the unlikely event that you want to burn CDRs, you can use either the low-resolution thumbnail file or freely alter the artwork provided in the BMP image.
