Notes

unidentified species of lichen

Simon, Matthew W, Keith, Matthew S, Philip, Henry and at least one vegetable played: sitar, saz, bowed psaltery, cello, musical saw, mbira, mandola, acoustic bass guitar, 'Plant-Chant' electronics, Tibetan prayer bowl, assorted percussion and hand-cranked miniature toy music boxes.

All tracks were improvised and recorded live in Exeter at The Bowling Green, 21/03/02 (track 1 and end of track 13), The Phoenix, 22/05/02 (end of track 6, track 7, middle of track 12) and Oblique House (all the rest). They were all recorded via a lo-fi mono headmic onto MiniDisc, later subjected to fairly minimal processing and a few dubious splices.

The introduction on track 1 was provided by Nigel the Busker. Track names (apart from the title track) are, for no particular reason, common names of species of moths of the British Isles.

This was originally intended as a two-CD compilation, with tracks 1-6 on disc 1, tracks 7-13 on disc 2.
