No jam band in ohio will ever top eKoostik hookah.. Leave it at that....

Subject: Agree-Disagree
While I agree that this band is going places, I disagree with this being a place to bash bands. This recording is to date my favorite. Keep up the great work!

Subject: Why does it matter who's band is better than who's?
I thought the review portion of this website was to actually review the show that is posted rather than what band is good or what band is not.
After a few years, one would think that stuff like this would settle down, but alas....
As far as a review of this show goes. I have had an opportunity to listen to this show a number of times. I have also listened to every other show this band has posted on the archive. I would put this right up there with the 4-14-07 or 12-31-06 as far as quality of both recording and performance - perhaps even better. This show here, quite possibly is the best recording available at the moment on the archive - as well as the best representation of what the band has been doing musically.
There are some treats as far as mixing goes that you won't hear on any other show on the archive. Joyful Days Ahead, Alexander I, and Only Falling are perhaps the best source of the songs that I have ever heard. The taper/mixer did an excellent job capturing and preserving all of the nuances vocally and instrumentally and he deserves praise.
I'd say that if you would give this show a listen rather than blindly posting your own opinions about this band or that band you would see that you are, in fact, comparing apples to oranges. What's past is past. Download and listen to this show and please give your review on the status quo.
Thank you,
Michael

Subject: EKOOSTIK HOOKAH SUCKS!!!
Ekoostik Hookah is definitely just a bunch of satan worshipping junkies hellbent on playing to even more satan worshipping junkies at their drugged out "HookahVille!" Sweeny - awesome solos (lay of the pipe asshole) Katz - superb keyboardist (lose the ego bud).
Mcgee's descision to leave was justifiable, and one under is by far better than hook. Ed writes better lyrics, catchier songs, and One unders percussion is better.
So all you hookah fans that are getting all gay about ripping on ED's band... Go back to hookahville, or as I like to call it... "A Drug Town with a Music Problem!" (hookahville officially has a catch phrase now) (make t-shirts you gaywads)

Subject: hmmmm
the recording sounds pretty good...its better to hear these guys than to actually see them...lol i just wish ed would play the guitar instead of leaving it hanging there like a prop in the "ed show"...but im not saying anything about how talented he is...i first started liking hookah with ed in the band so i will always like him...i just realize that john has that nasty disgustingness that hookah needs...they have gone to another level in the past year...one under is a damn good band...they just seem "put together" or "cliche"...but im still gonna give 5 stars for the good sound quality!!! thanks for the post

Subject: Sounds Good
The music sounds good, and there is some real jamming in there . . . yet a lot of it sure does sound like a lot of EH arrangements. Folks turned off by all the self admiration and sorta fruity style sould give the music another try.
I thought the whole One Under thing was about new directions in music, so less Hookah songs and more fresh jams would be good for the band.

I don't quite understand how OU is a hookah cover band. The Hookah songs that OU plays are Ed songs. If you check on who wrote them you will find out that it was Ed. Hookah never co wrote any songs except for Under Full Sail, and that was Dave and John.
So according to you Ratdog would be a cover band since they play songs that Bob Weir wrote with the Dead.
As far as the hate, it seems to be coming from you. Maybe you're just jealous of Ed's hair.
I really don't understand the attitude of so many people that hold this grudge on Ed and One Under.
Where's your hippie attitude about kindness and people being free to make their own decisions. I'm really tired of the attitude of some Hookah fans that just want something to bitch about. I went though the whole thing in 96 when John was asked to leave and I've also been there for the return of John, at both ends of it all so many people just wanted to bitch.
If you've got something worth saying about the show say it.
I haven't heard the show yet since I downloading it now but I'll give some feedback on it when I hear it.
