Awesome show! Phil and Friends have never matched the Q from 2000-2003 partly due to the stellar talent of the Q lineup but also and mainly due to that band playing at least 100 shows (I'm guestimating). Yet here we have a band that has not played much as a unit pulling together a cohesiveness and spirit that rises above the typical Phil and Friends IMO. First off we have a 69 year old John Molo who shows no sign of aging despite wearing masks on stage during Covid. Second, Grahame and Ricks' guitars are jelling much more like a band that has played many shows. The TAB horn section made wonderful contributions throughout, and I very much enjoyed Crosby's embellishments. The only downside for me is Phil's bass is muted on this audience recording, but i can hear that he's playing with enthusiasm a month before his 83rd birthday. So......this show leads me to pray that this band will make time to play again. Re: James Casey - people often say RIP which I get as being a sign of appreciation and respect. Yet I don't believe that our souls go to bed after leaving the physical body. And I expect that a guy like James is busy making music and spreading the love wherever he is now.
