Warren rocks!!!!! yahooooo!!!
Warren brings out the best in already good musicians the way Jerry did. It really does not get much better than this show. I hope Warren and fellas like Trey and Sco show up to jam with Phil as guests in NY for the 10 show fall 2007 run.

great recording & performance
really digging this show. It has me really excited for the PLF fall tour.
note to sjpeagles1. If you think Trey had the utmost reverence and never messed up a note or word when playing jerry's music you might want to check out the PLF show from Vegoose last year. Trey completely butchered the first verse of row jimmy. It was so bad that as soon as he finished the verse he laughed, apologized, and then started over.

Wow
I've never heard any post-GD band rock like they do at the end of Lovelight!
What a great show. Hope the rumors of a Phil fall tour come to fruition. This lineup is too hot to be put on the shelf.

Return to the REAL Phil & Friends
I am a longtime P&F fan, and due to the amazing musical experiences I have had while interacting with P&F either live or thru recordings, I am pretty tough with my reviews of Phil shows. Last summer, with the exception of when Trey came up on stage, I HATED the overall sound of that band lineup. Phil and Molo would be grooving like they always are and they would try to take a jam somewhere and no one would follow. Larry Campbell was a joke. He played really fast, but all he played was boring pentatonic scale excercises. I actually like Barry Sless, but he was only on slide guitar, and Larry Campbell rudely stepped on his feet constanstly at almost every show I went to. And Joan Osbourne simply had no respect for the sanctity of the Dead's music and really lost my respect when she would screw up some emotional lyrical pinnacle of a song while singing one of Jerry's parts, and she would just giggle and make a stupid face and start over. I mean, I know that happens once in a while, and God knows Jerry screwed up sometimes, but I have personally felt like anyone playing anothers music, especially amazing and spiritual music like the Deads, must exude reverence for it and the music's creators. Just look at how Trey didnt mess up one note or word when playing Jerry's music because he is soooo in awe of having the oppurtunity to do it and loved Jerry and the Dead so much. Trey makes mistakes during phish shows all the time, but he had REVERENCE for the dead songs they were playing. Anyway, This mountain Jam show was absolutely amazing, and a complete turnaround from last summer. Steve Molitz provided a dimension that Phil's band hasnt contained even during the prime that I consider to be the 2001 - 2004 Jimmy Herring and Warren Haynes lineup. Barraco was adept enough to play along in that amazing band, but he was never technically on the same level with the rest of the band. Molitz however added this whole dimensions to the band that was really refreshing. Not to mention that John Scofield completely shredded this show. He came as close as anyone has to replicating the presence of Herring. This show was truly on par with the best Herring/Haynes shows, and even personally I felt on par with the incredible Kimock, Trey, and Page run from the Warfield in 1999. Kudos to Phil for putting a band together that could bring the music to such great heights, and I can only hope and pray that something similar is done soon, and soon isnt even soon enough!!! thank you Phil, Warren, Sco, and Molo and Molitz. PEACE ALL

great line-up, grate show
what a show. while i saw several strong phil shows after the demise of the q, they never quite went above and beyond (for me). this one, however, was beyond the pale. several musical moments brought me back to the orpheum in '01, but i liked the sound at hunter even more. it was open and expansive, and phil could coax out some seriously deep tones at times.
thin clouds slid through the little canyons below the opposing ridge line, a mama bear and 3 cubs were seen, the intermittent rain was light for phil's sets (compared to earlier in the day), i had the best company one could ask for, and the setting was just perfect.
the music really began melting down by the mason's. phil sounded rich, dropping major bombs. i loved every minute of it and really do appreciate the archive upload.
thanks.

I was at this show and it was phenomenal. This recording captures it very well. Its shows like this that make me go do outdoor concerts with a forecast of 80% chance of rain...It was well worth it. this lineup is awesome and they really brought the heat in this one. thank you tim for posting this here!

Very nice show
Excellent song selection and very well played.
Low Spark is played out in very good form with some nice jams. Scarlet ---- > Dark Star is wonderful with some nice spacey DS jamming. My favorite part is Unbroken Chain. I always love when Phil pulls this out and this is a very nice version played at a high level.

Neuman KM 184 recording better?
Hey all... thanks and congratulations to all the tapers and the quick LMA uploaders, well done! That said, I compared two tracks (Candyman and Scarlet) between this source and the KM 184 source of TaperRob that I got from
bt.etree.org, and I think his sound is richer and fuller than this one. I hope someone uploads it here soon. And I know there are other versions torrenting now too, so hopefully several will end up here, and we can all decide which we like best. Great to get new recordings up here quickly - and even greater to keep looking for the best recordings of the really great shows - and this was a heck of a Phil show! Cheers, PeterT
