Subject: Got your Phix yet ?
I left around 7:30 headed for Little Falls, NY about 2 hours 40 minutes away looking forward to some good tunes and a quick smoke before I went in. I thought when we arrived at 10:15 that we they already started I could hear Limb by Limb already coming out of the carriage house. When we entered the carriage house which is the sweetess part about the whole experience, is that it really is a stable converted into a stage with a bar next to a real castle with ghosts. The guys where just doing soundcheck, right there I could see how serious these guys were about playing a soild show. They have a little contest called phantasy setlist you submit your setlist through the website and they pick one to play for each show that people submit to at phixband.com
After we had a smoke break outside Phix took to the stage and with most people warming themselves by the huge fire outside and some gathering before them at the stage they busted out with Wilson into Llama it had everyone inside dancing to these funky beats as bats were seen flying up in the narrow ceiling it just added to the effect. The band just got a new light guy who knew what he was doing as far as being in sync with the band. Mike's Song > Split Open and Melt the bass alone in this was great. The first set was very straight forward hard rock and jamming. The second set was surprising just when you think they came out with everything you get 2001 leading you on to believe something is going to happen with Tweezer to Hood jam out, to mellow Simple finishing it with Antelope leaves me looking around watching the crowd getting there Phix for the night and they loved it.
Especially when Phix came back on with two encores and jammed for another 40 minutes ending it with a Tweezer reprise which had us up on our feet to the last note.

Notes

Soundcheck not recorded #

Split Open and Melt, Limb by Limb, (brief) Piper

# started before I could get my gear set up
*sound guy put some kind of echo on the mics accidentally
%Brief Tease during Hood Jam "I Walk the Line" Johnny Cash
** it was 2:00am, but they hinted there was more to come little did we know it would be an hour longer
*** the soundboard gave out you could hear it when they played but they were close to the audience so it didn't make a difference until I checked back on the tape and realized the sound system was having some problems and cutting out only track with this problem
$ crowd was great got a little crazy and went up on stage and started chanting Phix, and this guy started singing its was funny

The first set began @ 10:45pm the show ended @ 3:00am
