What a splendid collection. My grandfather was sent to fight in the First World War and left my grandmother at home who was pregnant. He never returned home and my mother grew up without a father.
After some prolonged research and meticulous campaigning my cousin John McCrae retrieved the service medals and had my grandfather's name (Woods) added to the memorial

Just loved the old photies of the village.
One thing tho', on looking for our 'ouse it seemed that not all of Greendale Road was covered. Then I spotted it on page five wrongly noted as Brook Street.
I lived in the village from age two to twenty two when I got married and came to Canada in 1975. My mum and dad both worked for Levers and lived in the village from '54 to '12, their ashes are scattered in the village churchyard.
Great find, enjoy it every time I open it.
