CCC=job corps
Good movie even though Bowery Boys was never one of my personal favorites.
The CCC does still exist in the form of Job corps, but it's been watered down to a point of near uselessness and to many of the centers are NOT run as camps, but more like prisons for juvenile delinquents or barely above that level. The discipline was replaced with greed and selfishness and corporate people who always have a finger in the cookie jar to the detriment of the programs and the kids.. It's sad, but it's what has been going on for over 20 yrs. Corporate masters will always rot anything that helps people in need because it wants its pound of flesh above any other concern.

Pride of the Bowery
This is probably the best of the Dead End Kids movies. Unfortunately, the sound and picture are out of sinc, but it's worth watching anyway.
I surely wish they would bring back the CCC today. It would be wonderful for the economy and for all the young men who need help in gaining skills for work and confidence.
It was the young men of the CCC that were ready for service in WWII when it began. Most were either drafted or volunteered. It taught so many character-building skills and got all of the men in such great shape that boot camp was not even necessary (they had been living in a military based system).
This is a movie I think everyone should see.
