What A Good Film!
This film should be required viewing for anyone aspiring to work behind a camera - for any reason. Unlike today's dizzying sometimes downrght nauseating practice of swinging a camera around continuously, here, they take time to actually use moving pictures to supply "survey style" images of what is being discussed. You actually get to see the subject and have time to ponder it!! This film is soooo superior - despite its lack of sound - to the junk on cable tv today (HGTV and Food Channel are the worst). How ironic is that? [Another example of reverse evolution!] Maybe my attention span is longer than the average viewer but I was mondo impressed by this excellently constructed film! I don't need a jiggling image to get and hold my attention.
And, sheesh! I had no idea that the Long Beach earthquake was so severe. So scary as I sit here watching this in southern California practically in view of the San Andreas fault. Give me tornadoes ANY day - at least you get a warning!
10 stars if I could.

Let's get ready to Rumbbbbbbble
Fairly average short here about the damage the 1933 earthquake did to Long Beach and Compton. After some great titles (and the fact that this is a "Travelettes" film.. as if you were gonna travel to check out the damage yourself!) the film then goes into damage control mode and explores the buildings that are still up, and which came down! Interesting that all the schools and churches suffered the most damages, while most of the modern business buildings hardly suffered a scratch. Huzzah for business!
