Why in the world would you ever track all the songs out of order like that?? That completely ruins the show.Thank gawd we never traded Dead tapes back in the day.

This show really surprised me. At face value, the song listing is rather devoid of typical Radiators standards. There are no songs from the classic Work Done On Premise and only four songs from Heat Generation. A few of the songs would show up years later on albums, but this show is mostly composed of lesser known Radiators songs that are played in a superb manner. I downloaded this concert mainly to hear them sing Take Me To The River.
The first time I listened to this concert I was distracted by some hum and feedback in a number of songs in the first set and some in the second set. I put this concert aside and went on to others with better song selections and cleaner recordings. After a few weeks, I came back to this show. This time I played all the songs in order as background music while I did some chores. When I heard the electronic hum, it reminded me of a Radiators show that I attended at Jazz Fest time at this same Jeds on April 25, 1981 and they had similar noise and hum problems with their sound system, but it was much worse then. In this set, the hum is noticeable occasionally.
What is more noticeable is the absolute monster Radiators groove that runs throughout all 32 songs. They are at the top of their game here. The all the instruments and vocals are at correct levels. They have taken songs that were so-so in other performances and lifted them to greatness. Every song is enjoyable. The quality of the performance transcends any song selection weakness or minor hum problems. This concert is a precious gem.
When you toss out the one minute Jeds talk with the group, you have a little over 158 minutes of music, just enough to squeeze on two 80 minute CDs with a little planning to keep songs that run together intact. Heres my suggested tracking with set numbers in parentheses followed by song numbers: CD One (2) 1-3, (1) 3-4, 7-9, 12-13, (3) 4-6, (2) 9-11. Thats 16 songs clocking in at 79 minutes and 37 seconds, CD Two - (1) 6, 10-11, 1-2, (2) 4-8, (3) 1-3, 7-9. This one has another 16 songs at 78 minutes and 34 seconds.
This is a great show with great playing by the Radiators which rates five stars.
