The 2007 debut album from artificial composer Ramugen, produced by Greg Fox.
UPDATE: 2nd of June 2007: BETA version uploaded: v0.88 - the GUI is complete, the low-level behaviours to date are working, and the moods and mindsets are saveable. The moods are now devolvable and all file save/load functions are complete. The next release will have improved low-level behaviours (and more of them) and devolvable mindsets and will be a "complete" release. After that it's just optimisation and any bugfixes that arise.
Ramugen087.zip contains the latest Ramugen. The website for Ramugen is http://homepages.tesco.net/gregskius/ramugen.html
The software is only compatible with Windows 32-bit at present. The Delphi 2.0 source code is included so a Kylix port would be fairly easy. (Feel free to help!!)
A Mac port would probably have to be converted from a description of the behaviour of the program.
Essentially Ramugen weights the probability of different low-level behaviours occurring. These are:
Moving to a different note within the hard limits specified;
Moving to a nearby note within a range specified;
Moving back to the last note played;
Moving back to a note 'remembered' earlier;
Harmonising the current note with between 1 and 5 further notes:
Within a specified range;
Across the whole range within hard limits specified;
Simultaneously or after a delay.
Ramugen is not intended to be a memetic engine; she is a stochastic engine.
