Ian D HawgoodIan D Hawgood - The Fire Will Die At Night (November 6, 2007)

"Fire rushes across the mountain. Its beautiful, and its all around me now. But the fire will die at night and I will realise that I am alone, remembering the way things used to be. This night has come too soon."
Ian D Hawgood 03/11/07 00:45

4 tracks of enormous beauty are presented by Ian D Hawgood on "The Fire Will Die At Night". With great soundscapes and multiple layers of different soundsources, this EP catches you and leaves you with a soft shiver over your back. Ian creates a warm and gentle ambience with soft glitches, some percussions, beats and wide spaces. All woven together very, very subtley.

Enjoy this great piece of music on the border between ambient and electronica.

Oh and I just saw his show! Guitar, glockenspiel, percussion, laptop, vocals and lots of hitting objects. Pretty amazing - I had no idea 'Fire Will Die' was processed guitars - I thought it was string samples.

Wonderful music and very refreshing. The use of beats and keyboards is great, and sounds like he is an ambient artist ('artist' - in the very strictest sense) who actually allows himself to be seriously dark (is the poem about suicide?) and somehow have fun as well. One of the highlights in the past few years and maybe the best album in 2007 (web, cd or other).

This is my first posting on archive.org and I joined simply to say what a wonderful piece of music this is. It stretches and moves in such a beautiful way that is feels like a massive journey through a very dark imagination. There is light, but there is pain as well and the poem in the Itunes file is pretty darn powerful. This has to be one of the great undiscovered records and indeed artists this decade...no shit. Awesome.

Not sure how this was done - I can't fully place the sounds but it sounds like live instrumentation. It is basically a work of genius and I came across it by accident. Tracks 1 and 4 are just gorgeous, two is really wild and three is just a full on surprise with warped keys, vocals and beats, kind of Boards of Canada played in the garage and droned out. I cannot commend the artist enough and I recommend this to everyone - you will not be disappointed.
