A totally beautiful "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" here. Karan's playing so fluid and grand.

Subject: Great playing, BAD SHOW!
This was the first Bobby show I was totally disappointed with. The soundman at this show should be taken out and shot. The volume was up WAY, WAY louder than it ever should have been. It was easily the loudest concert I have ever been to and I saw DANZIG live in a little club! The music was totally distorted and there was no separation of the instruments. It just sounded like one big blare! The sax, guitars, and piano blended together in this horrible roar that made everything indiscernible. The vocals sounded like Bobby's voice was sped up in pitch like a record playing too fast! Before the show, an announcer stated that, "the Tower Theater has the best acoustics in all of Philadelphia." If that is true they were completely destroyed by some asshole board operator that looked like a drunken biker. He should have been taking out the trash, not setting the volume. From what I could barely make out, Help on the Way was a great opener, but I found my self wincing in pain and holding my ears during the best part because the Rhodes piano was so loud, I thought the paint would peel off the walls! Then came Maggie's Farm and Baby Blue which I couldn't make out. Just blaring messes of guitar and drums. Youngblood sucked, and the highlight of the show Crazy Fingers was amazing but once again, the best jamming was completely lost on everyone due to the ridiculous volume. B.E.W and Eyes were cool but my ears started to get destroyed at this point. The guy next to me was stuffing napkins in his ears. I left in disgust during intermission. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not some pussy that hates concert volume. I love loud music but this wasn't just loud, it was distorted and made the listening experience more than unpleasant. I am glad I left because the second set looks pretty gay. I am enjoying actually being able to understand the music listening to this tape! What might have been a cool show was turned into a PISS POOR concert with lots of feedback and burned out eardrums. My hearing is still fucked up! FUCK YOU to the SOUNDBOARD OPERATOR! Bobby, hire somebody that knows what the fuck they are doing! The Dead are loved for their devotion to live sound! I GOT RIPPED OFF! I WANT MY MONEY BACK! The only reason this show gets three stars is for the recording. It will be awhile before I go to another Ratdog show, and next time I'll bring earplugs.

FUCK YOU AGAIN, soundboard operator or anyone who thought the volume should be so loud you can't tell what song they are playing!

Subject: Great show with Great Sound
I've been to many shows at the Tower. Sound is always very loud up front. This time I was near the back, and the sound was crystal clear.

Another issue is folks at many shows here really like to talk during concerts. They need to really boost up the volumn so folks are not distracated.

The show itself was really fun. High energy start to finish. I had a great time as I also did the following night (where is it?)

Subject: There is something else I heard...
What I heard through the words of that set.

Paradise waits, on the crest of a wave, her angels in flames. I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more. It's all over now. I took one look and I was captured. Life may be sweeter for this, I don't know. My sweet sixteen I would never regret. Two times over and the rest were sins. Sometimes the songs that we hear are just songs of our own.

Is this about me?

To you Bobby your day your message. You were only waiting for this moment to be free. I can see through your masks, you that never done nothin', but build to destroy. Someday, everything is gonna be smooth like a rhapsody. We all connect to the light. If you call me you know I will. If we don't believe together, we might just cease to be. If you get confused just listen to the music play. Would you hold it near as it were your own?

Free-form, each sentence represents the set in order.

Subject: Great show...lots of great soloing by all
Thank you Craig for the quick upload. I was 3 rows in front of you. I saw your mike stands when I looked back (I was the one in the Steal Your VW shirt). The sound was distorted at the show due to the excessive volume (my ears are still ringing today), but luckily your mikes don't capture sound like my poor eardrums. I enjoyed the show especially the birthday festivities; Bobby in the headdress was hilarious. Each member showed his chops on different tunes; even Bobby was soloing. All members gave solos that had the crowd howling with approval. And Bobby looked better than he has in years. Next time I see them I'll wear ear plugs though.
