Subject: Nice recording, nice show
Subject: Nice recording, nice show
The band started the first set with the energy and tightness of the best parts of the Indy show- Shakedown was great and Loose Lucy is definitely an above average Ratdog version. Check it out. Ship kind of derailed... only version of the tour I think, it's a tough song musically and the band didn't know it well enough, though Jeff's playing was almost enough to save it. Gotta love Jeff- he knows the material inside and out by this point. 3 more in a row over 10 minutes, gotta love that. All good versions too- and I think the only first set He's Gone from Ratdog. Good stuff. Nice Iko to close- love Bob's different lyrics on that tune. Second set had less energy but some emotional performances- Most Of the Time is masterful. A great example of Bob really stepping up on this tour. Golden Road had me missing the hot Furthur versions... I don't like a lot of Furthur but they ripped that tune up, especially early on. Nice Wheel and TNK was the highlight thanks to Kimock walking around the stage making controlled feedback into art (not unlike some clever dudes in the 60s). Truly a great 21st century psychedelic moment. There are some Senor haters in the Ratdog fanbase but Bob was on point vocally for this just like Most Of the Time. I loved it. Midnight Hour was the first RD version since 99, but still not an awesome 2nd set closer. The BMR encore was unexpected and also my first so I left happy.
