Subject: Recipe in Transition
This is my kind of mix. Everything can be heard clearly, especially the bass. You can still here the crowd a bit at certain times . . . just when you want to. The only thing missing is Tom's percussion at the beginning, but they fixed that after a couple of songs.
Hannah's fiddle/violin playing is fantastic in this show. Hell, she always sounded good. Download and listen to "Grow" to see what I mean. She is just so clean.
The show itself is pretty good. I call this Recipe in transition because this is a post-Kristen show, but before (in my opinion) Julie felt comfortable in the band. She still sounds great, but she only got better the longer she was with the band. Also, the only guitarist in the band is Joe at this time Julie plays acoustic on a couple songs, but . . .). No banjo accompanying them. Another reason is that this is around the time that Joe and the band started turning more into a jam band instead of a pop act. The song lengths, except on a couple of tunes (The Seed, Litha, Rise) are under or around five minutes. I think this makes for a great Recipe show since there is only Joe on guitar. The occasional guitar leads and extended jams make this show a good download for first listeners. You get a smattering of everything.
This recording sounds amazing and the show is pretty tight. Definitely not the best Recipe show they ever played, but definitely fun and danceable. Five stars for recording, four to four and a half for the show itself. Round that up to five stars and you get one nice show.
